Yeah, except that to ignore the sexuality of these kids would be to ignore that their suicides were the direct results of being bullied for said sexuality. We should absolutely do our part to treat people equally regardless of their sexual orientation, but that doesn’t mean we should pretend that LGBTQ people aren’t oppressed, or that these suicides aren’t emblematic of a much larger problem in our society. Blindness to oppression doesn’t further equality. It only furthers oppression.
